Pet Angel does not accept cats from the public. The only exception is cats that have been adopted from Pet Angel that need to be returned. Please read further for more information on what to do if you are looking for placement for a cat.
Pet Angel is a specialized cat rescue that focuses on bonded pair’s, extra-needs, shy & elderly animals. Pet Angel is not accepting cats from the public, outside of returned adoptions. We accept cats that fit our specialization from other organizations only.
However, We don't want to tell you "No Vacancy, Sorry!" and send you on your way with no other options, so we listed some other recommendations for you to try below!
If you are contacting us about returning a cat you have adopted from Pet Angel, you are the exception to this rule. Per our adoption contract, you agreed to return your cat to us if you cannot keep it any longer, and we have agreed to accept your Pet Angel cat back into our rescue. Please look under "Return" below to find out more information about how to go about returning your Pet Angel cat.
Petfinder.com has an awesome feature on its website that will generate a call list for you of all the rescues around you based on your zip code! If you go to petfinder.com and look at the home screen, you will see 4 boxes. The one on the far right reads “shelters and rescues.” If you click there, you can put in your zip code and the website will generate a call list of all the rescues and organizations around you based on your location, giving you their name, location, and contact information. I recommend trying this feature on petfinder to find rescues near you to see if they have openings or a wait list you can join.
Adoptapet.com is a website where rescues and shelters can list their adoptable cats and kittens for potential adopters to view. The hope is that they will see the cats profile and reach out to adopt that cat. Adoptapet came out with a version of their website for the public to list their own pets as adoptable, so your pet will be viewed by potential adopters next to the shelter cats and kittens online! But you are able to conduct the meet and greet and rehome the pet yourself, without the animal ever having to enter the shelter. This version of their website is called rehome.adoptapet.com. Adopt A Pet will walk you through the entire rehoming process, right down to providing a safe meeting place for you and your pet to meet the potential adopter so you don't need to have the potential adopter come to your home. I recommend trying this route, so the animal you're looking to rehome does not ever need to enter a shelter!
Per our adoption contract, anyone who has adopted from Pet Angel is to return their Pet Angel cat to Pet Angel if they can no longer keep the animal for any reason. Pet Angel is a judgement free zone, and never judges former adopters for having to return their animal. We understand this is a hard decision to make, and we want to help you through whatever situation you are going through. Often, the best way we can help is by taking back your Pet Angel cat. Even though Pet Angel is full, you are the exception to our rule. Please understand that because we are full, it may take us a few weeks to move things around to make space for your return, so please reach out to us via email or phone as soon as possible to get on our schedule.
When you reach out, please give us the name you adopted the cat under, your phone number, the name of the cat needing to be returned, and let us know what circumstances have occured that have caused the cat to be returned.
When we have openings, we will be accepting cats from other rescues that fit under our specialization. This gives the cats in other shelters that are looked over due to medical or behavioral special needs, elderly cats, shy cats and bonded pairs a safe haven and second chance at life. By us taking these cats from other organizations, we free up space in their rescue for them to rescue cats that don't have special requirements in their next home.
