If you've adopted a cat from Pet Angel, that makes your cat a Pet Angel Alum! This page is full of all the information you need to know if you're a past adopter!
When you adopted from Pet Angel, we really didn't want to say goodbye to you forever and never talk to you again. We want to be there for you throughout your time as a cat parent! If you have trouble down the road, whether it be behavioral, medical or personal matters, we want to not only be there for you, but help you and your cat stay together through it all! If you've found this page, you're probably looking for a reminder or something about your Pet Angel Cat! If you can't find it here, please reach out to us directly!
At the time of adoption, we gave you the complete medical history for your new pet. This is the only copy we have on file, so its very important you keep track of it! If you have misplaced this medical record, We are able to put you in contact with our vet to get any records for vetting they did for your cat while in our care. However, the only records of any vetting that was done prior to your cat coming to our care was given to you at the time of adoption. If you need medical information for your cat, please contact us directly!
All cats from Pet Angel are microchipped before going home, and when your cat was adopted to you in our system, it registered the microchip to you! The company we use for our microchips is 24petwatch. It is very important you keep your address and phone number information updated with 24petwatch, as well as with Pet Angel! If your pet is ever to go missing, 24petwatch has to have your correct information to get in contact with you! If you do not answer because they don't have your updated contact information, they will contact Pet Angel, and we are able to retrieve your animal to help your cat back to you. However, if we also don't have your updated information, we won't be able to get your cat back to you either!
If you move or change your phone number, please contact 24petwatch as well as Pet Angel Adoption, to update your address and phone number! We ALWAYS want to help you and your cat!
Rabies Vaccines are required not only by our adoption contract, by Michigan State law. Depending on what vaccine your vet provides, your cat either needs a rabies vaccine every year, or every three years. Check their medical record and keep it up to date!
One of the agreements on our adoption contract, which all adopters have signed, states that your Pet Angel cat will be a strictly indoor-only cat. This means that they are not allowed outside free range, in a fenced yard, or on a harness and leash- even if you are supervising. If you are interested in why this is apart of our adoption contract, please visit our page on Indoor-Only Advice here on our website.
If your cat left our rescue with claws, that means you signed a no-delcaw contract saying they would keep their claws! If you are having trouble with your cat scratching inappropriately in your home, please visit our page on alternatives to declawing here on our website!
In the case that you can no longer keep your Pet Angel cat for ANY reason,
you agreed to bring your cat back go us. NOT give them to a family member,
friend, coworker, family you met online, another rescue or shelter, or put them
down. Even if we are full, we WILL make space to take back any cat that was
previously adopted from Pet Angel. A Pet Angel cat is a part of us forever,
and we will always have open hearts for them. This is for several reasons, but
one of the most important is for the microchip to be correctly registered in
both the micochips system, and in our system!
While your cat was at Pet Angel, they were cared for daily by our dozens of volunteers who take turns caring for and loving each and every cat! Our volunteers do this out of the kindness of their hearts, and often love the cats as their own! The hardest part of volunteering and loving cats that aren't yours are the fact that when they get adopted, the volunteers often don't know they're leaving, don't have a chance to say goodbye, and never see all the cats they loved and cared for again. This is why we created the alumni page on facebook! All our volunteers are on the alumni page, and LOVE to see pictures of the cats and kittens they cared for in their forever home! Our volunteers sometimes will share photos of your cat while they were at our rescue too! Additionally, the Facebook alumni page is a great way to ask our staff for behavioral advice! If you haven't joined the alumni group already, PLEASE do! We would love to have you there!
No matter the circumstance you and your cat are facing, we are here to help! When you adopt from Pet Angel, we aren't saying goodbye to you at the door- we are here for you throughout the rest of your pet parenthood! If you and your former pet angel cat are struggling, please reach out to us directly and explain the situation! We would love to help in any way we can!
